His Plan: When God Is Goddin’
A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them. Proverbs 16.9 AMP
Goddin’ is God doing the things that only God could do. Goddin’ is God orchestrating life and authoring happenstance. God not only knows what will happen but He determines what will be. Hence, God be Goddin’!
It never ceases to amaze me how life can look so much different from the outside looking in, as compared to when we’re on the inside looking out.
When I reflect back on times, I can see [in hindsight] His hand of divine direction and faithfulness operating in many situations that didn’t work out like I thought would or had hoped. Yet still, He was Goddin’ the whole time establishing His plan.
This is a sobering reminder that if my plan doesn’t match God’s plan, then I am out of The Plan. Because ultimately, there’s only one plan that will succeed — His. God rarely ever, if ever, gives us the entire picture when we’re going through something. We don’t get to fast forward or read the spoiler alerts.
He does this lest we be proud and dependent on ourselves instead of Him. Rather, God gives us just enough, sometimes nothing 😂 and says, “follow Me.”
Another translation says it this way: “Within your heart you can make plans for your future, but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there.” (Proverbs 16.9 TPT)
Time and time again, God sovereignly decides how this thing (whatever your thing is) comes to be and ends. He’s not just God of the beginning and end, He’s God in the middle details too.
Allowing God to lead in every area of our lives looks like putting Him at the center of our decisions continually. Not just this area or that thing — but be the center of it all, Lord.
Keeping God at the center of our lives also means operating with Godly wisdom and counsel. While yet still, being willing to pivot and turn when He says, “go”! We don’t live reacting to life, we live in response to the Father.
The faster we cooperate and work with God rather than against Him, the faster we will arrive at His place for us.
