Jesus Is The Hope Of Christmas

She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will save His people from their sins.” All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet [Isaiah]: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel”—which, when translated, means, “God with us.” 📖 Matthew 1.21-23

Christmas has become many things to many people, but what this holiday is trademarked for doesn’t point to its pagan origins.

Christmas is less about just the birth of Jesus and more about the entire coming of Jesus, the Christ (Zechariah 2.10) — the Man who is God. The Book of Matthew reminds us why He came, stepping down from His Heavenly place and into His own creation. He came to redeem us.

Jesus — God in flesh and humanity — came to save us from our sins and ourselves. He came to be our Hope for tomorrow and our Truth for today. He came to be our Peace. The first Christmas was God’s affirmation and shout-out to the world that He loves us and brings freedom in the light of His Son!

The heart of our Holy God has always wanted to be in relationship with His creation. And His coming is proof of that (God with us). He sent His Son into fallen humanity to restore our relationship with Him that sin disrupted. God is still with us today.

The truth of Christmas is that God didn’t wait to see how good we are to give us the greatest gift of all — Himself. Jesus is still the Hope of Christmas. He’s still the Light when the world looks dark. Our Hope for the world comes from outside of it.

Let Him be the Hope of your heart today. Tomorrow. And forever. ♾
